Funding Opportunities to Support Collaboration and Capacity Building

The ANTICIPATE COST Action offers several grant schemes and tools designed to support networking, capacity building, and the active involvement of early career researchers and participants from across Europe including a focus on participants from Inclusiveness Target Countries. Each grant enables participants to directly contribute to the scientific objectives of the Action.

General information on each grant type is provided below along with additional guidelines and resources, including the MoU which details the Action’s core objectives. Each grant will periodically have dedicated calls with specific application deadlines throughout the timeline of the Action. Please sign up to the mail list to keep up to date on when the calls are released.

Short-Term Scientific Missions (STSMs) fund short research visits (typically 1-2 weeks) to a host institution in another COST member country. STSMs are ANTICIPATE’s main scientific ‘instrument’, enabling participants to learn new techniques, access data or equipment, and strengthen international research collaboration, while contributing directly to the scientific objectives of the COST Action.

They are primarily aimed mainly at Young Researchers & Innovators but are open to researchers at all career stages involved in the Action. STSMs to/from Inclusiveness Target Countries are particularly encouraged.

YRI Conference Grants support young researchers and innovators (exclusively PhD candidates and early-career researchers under the age of 40 years) to attend and actively participate in relevant international conferences. These grants help cover travel and subsistence costs, enabling recipients to present their work (poster or oral presentation), gain visibility, and expand their professional networks while representing ANTICIPATE.

ITC Conference Grants are exclusively limited to individuals affiliated to a legal entity located in Inclusiveness Target Countries (ITCs) or Near Neighbour Countries (NNCs). They provide financial support to attend international conferences that are aligned with the Action’s scope in a high-level conference fully organised by a third party in another country, i.e. not organised nor co-organised by ANTICIPATE. The grants promote broader geographical participation and inclusiveness within COST, helping researchers from ITCs disseminate their findings (oral presentation only), build collaborations, and strengthen their integration into European research networks.

Please review the documentation provided below carefully including the guidelines and the COST Annotated Rules. If you have any questions about ANTICIPATE’s grants, please contact the ANTICIPATE Grant Awarding Coordinator Dr Alexandre Ramos before applying: alexandre.ramos@kit.edu
